Young & Restless recap: Chelsea looks suicidal as she goes to the hotel rooftop

In the park, Billy bumps into a distracted Chelsea who tells him about her encounter with Johnny and Victoria and tells him that her ex forbade her from seeing the boy, which is probably for the best. Billy is surprised that Chelsea agrees with Victoria’s demands, but she explains that she saw today how upset Johnny is about the situation. She also wants to put him first. Chelsea laments that she misjudged the situation and shouldn’t have pushed. Now she’s opened a Pandora’s box with Johnny and Connor, but she can’t fix her mistake or go back. Billy reminds him that they had no way of knowing how he would react. Chelsea will back down and say today was a wake-up call. She’ll be patient and maybe Johnny will change his mind in a few years. Billy finds this logical, but emotions are involved. He wants her to be careful not to set high expectations. She shouldn’t pin her hopes on Johnny’s acceptance. Chelsea assures him that his hopes are based on a cold, hard reality. She was just excited for Johnny to find out who she was, so she pushed for something that wasn’t supposed to happen so soon. Billy was probably right that she was reaching out because she was lost. She claims she thinks clearly now and is ready to put it all behind her. Billy thinks it’s better. Chelsea asks her to assure Victoria and Johnny that she won’t bother them again.

Lily pivots the conversation to other couples having work issues and reveals that Billy is leaving Chancellor-Winters. Devon is stunned that of all the times he quit, he’s been chosen now. Lily thinks the business was more her dream than Billy’s, so he’s going to pursue something else he’s passionate about. Devon complains about losing another COO. Lily explains that he offered to stay longer, but having a COO who doesn’t want to be there is more of a hindrance than a help. Devon wonders if she would ask him to stay if he wasn’t her boyfriend. Lily wants what’s best for Billy and for herself. She wishes he could stay and she’s hurt that it didn’t work out, but it’s probably better for their relationship. Devon concedes that the most important thing is that they are happy. Lily asks about Amanda. There has been no change in his mother’s condition, and he does not know if she will be coming home soon. He admits he’s not sure it’s the distance, but things have been a little tense between them. Lily goes to meet Billy and Devon says he’ll stay there to watch Abby.
