Young and the Restless sends out casting call for Summer Newman
Summer Newman Abbott is living happily abroad in Italy with her new husband Kyle Abbott and her dream job (thanks to Sally). But Soap Hub has heard Phyllis Summers and Nick Newman’s daughter may soon be appearing on The Young and the Restless — in more ways than one!
The Young and the Restless Summer Newman Abbott
Hunter King starred as Summer from 2012 to 2021. The actress won two Daytime Emmys for her performances in 2014 and 2015. She left the show last year to live happily ever after with Kyle (Michael Mealor) in Italy. King reprized Summer last December in a special Nick-centric episode. Now, a casting call has gone out for the character of Summer Newman.
The casting breakdown for Summer Newman, a contract role, reads, in part, “Summer is a vibrant, attractive woman in her late twenties – savvy, fun-loving and refined, from a powerful and wealthy family. The role will be governed by Sony Pictures TV’s standard daytime contract terms; with the possibility of a 3 year contract.
What Hunter King Does
According to her IMDB page, King’s next upcoming project is an untitled thriller for Top Dead Center Films in which she will star as Jael Jones. In the past, the actress has done double duty by appearing on both Y&R and the CBS sitcom Life in Pieces.
The young and the restless A summer wind
Currently, it is not yet known if Kyle will return. The newlyweds last appeared together on the show at the wedding of Summer’s aunt, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) to Ashland Locke (then, Richard Burgi; now, Robert Newman). Recently, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) traveled to Italy to visit her daughter and also spend time with little Harrison. Phyllis received a job offer from Summer but chose to stay in Genoa City instead.
And while Y&R viewers may see a new summer later this year, Soap Hub is hearing the rumor that King, in fact, might be appearing onscreen as Phyllis and Nick’s daughter this very week! Stay tuned to find out!
