Young and restless: Adam wins Sally back only to dump her again for Chelsea?
The heart can win out over the head…and leave Sally Spectra with a bad case of deja vu.
As we previewed earlier this week, Sally had a choice to make, not just about where she would apply for a job, but who she would spend her time with after work.
We theorized that she might decide that the Newman brothers are more trouble than they’re worth and opt to stay single, or that she might choose Nick because it would provide a healthy dose of drama to the future, not only between the brothers but with his ex-wife Phyllis, who can’t stand the wife after playing with Summer. We are in the November sweeps.
It looks like we were right. Sally thought it over and told Nick that Adam represents “conflict” and she doesn’t want that in her life anymore. They stated that they miss each other and the scenes ended with the assumption that she had chosen Nick.
But this may not be the end. It was clear that Sally had made this decision mostly with her head. Yes, it sounds good and it looks good on paper… but there is no account for the heart, which has a well-deserved reputation for wanting what it wants.
While Sally was talking to Nick, Adam was with Jack, a lothair if ever there was one, who was advising him on how to win back the woman he loves “more than he ever thought he could love anyone. that is”.
It was a huge signal that despite Sally’s resolve to leave it in the rearview mirror, Adam still has a chance to convince her to change her mind. In fact, he’s got excellent luck — Sally is a realist who’s been through the school of hard knocks, but she’s also been known to go to downright terrifying lengths to follow her heart.
Unfortunately, if Adam convinces Sally to give love a shot, it’s unlikely to be the drama-free variety she’s looking for…
As viewers know (and Adam doesn’t), there’s a complicating factor that could come into play. He’s worried about his ex-wife and the mother of his child, Chelsea. Adam is unaware that she had a psychotic breakdown and attempted suicide. No one will return his calls, and although he’s managed to hide it from Connor, who has started asking about his mother, Adam is freaked out.
Fortunately, Chelsea is safe in a place where she can get the help she needs. But as she pointed out to a reluctant Billy, Connor and his ex need to know what’s going on with her, and she wants to be the one to tell Adam.
This means Adam will soon find out the gravity of what Chelsea are up against, and while he’s been far from a perfect partner in the past, he’s bound to feel very protective. He loves it. He’ll want to be there for Chels and might even be convinced to get his family together for the holidays if it helps him feel supported and whole again.
So imagine this: Sally, finally, decides to let her heart prevail over her head and gives Adam the second chance he’s been so desperately pushing for, only to have him announce he’s reuniting his family with Chelsea. .
Chelsea has been adamant that no one can be told what’s going on with her, so Adam won’t be able to explain to Sally why he chose Chelsea over her. She will again be devastated and no doubt furious with herself for even considering taking it back. Adam will be disgusted for hurting her again, but unable to say anything to make it better.
If it goes like this, you can bet Sally won’t be giving ‘Ally’ another chance for a very long time, if ever!
