Rahul Gandhi, President of the Congress of Om Birla Schools of Lok Sabha, Says You Have No Right to Give Permission
Lok Sabha chairman Om Birla said only the chairman had the right to allow members to speak.
New Delhi:
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday accused Congressman (MP) Rahul Gandhi of not following proper parliamentary procedure during a debate on the President’s vote of thanks to the Lok Sabha.
After Rahul Gandhi gave ‘permission’ to another MP to speak while he was speaking, the Speaker said, ‘Who are you to give this permission? You can’t give permission, it’s my right,” added Om Birla: “You have no right to authorize anyone, only the president has the right to authorize.”
Om Birla berated Mr Gandhi after the Congress leader, while delivering his remarks, stopped and indicated to BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan who was on his feet and wanted to say something. “I am a democratic person and I will allow the other person to speak,” Mr Gandhi said, receiving a sharp rebuke from a visibly irate president, Om Birla.
The Congress leader, during the vote of thanks on the President’s speech, was seen lashing out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying, “‘India cannot be ruled like a kingdom.. The king doesn’t listen to anyone. “
MP Wayanad also took the name of Kamlesh Paswan and who had spoken just before him and pointed out that the BJP MP, who is a Dalit, was in the wrong party.
“You don’t listen to anyone and not even my dear BJP brother and sister. I saw my Dalit colleague speaking today, Paswanji. He knows the history of the Dalits. He knows who oppressed the Dalits for 3,000 years “But he speaks with hesitation. He speaks without… I’m proud of him. I’m proud of this gentleman. He told me what’s on his heart. But he’s on the wrong side. Don’t worry. not.. .ghabraiye carpet, said Mr. Gandhi.
At this there was an outcry and Mr Paswan stood up in protest and motioned for the Speaker to allow him to speak only for the Speaker to say to him in Hindi “No.. not in between, after. ” It was then that Mr Gandhi quickly waved to Mr Paswan and said he was allowing the BJP leader to speak.
“Aap kisi ko ijazaat nahi de sakte, yeh adhikar mera hain (You can’t give anyone permission, it’s my right),” the president told Mr Gandhi, leaving the Congress leader visibly embarrassed.
In addition, Mr. Paswan also hit back at the Congress leader. “Rahul Gandhi said I was in the wrong party. I want to tell him that today I can speak after Rahul Gandhi was the MP for Bansgaon only because of my party. My party made me MP three times. What more could I want?”
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has come under fire for his remarks in the debate. Many BJP and Congress politicians have taken to social media to talk about it.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “Mr Rahul Gandhi, those who prefer to give dog biscuits in the presence of Assam leaders and then offer them the same biscuits should be the last to go. talk about political decency. INC is everything and that’s it. The Indian people know this well. “
