National Covid-19 positivity drops below 3%


ISLAMABAD, October 6 (APP): The national tally of active Covid-19 cases on Wednesday was recorded 44,828 with an additional 1,212 people testing positive for the deadly virus and 2,171 people have recovered from the disease in the past 24 time.

Thirty-nine corona patients have died in the past 24 hours, of which 34 were under treatment at different hospitals and five of them perished in their respective quarantines or homes, according to the latest update released by the National Command and Operation. Center (NCOC).

Most of the deaths occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), followed by Punjab. Of the total of 39 deaths that occurred, 10 of them died while on ventilator therapy.

There were 3,079 Covid-infected patients on treatment in critical condition at various Covid-dedicated health facilities across the country. The national Covid positivity ratio over the past 24 hours has been recorded at 2.6%. Maximum fans were occupied in four major cities, including Sargodha 43%, Peshawar 33%, Lahore 42% and Multan 78%.

Maximum oxygen beds (alternative oxygen supply facility other than the ventilator administered according to the medical requirements of the Covid patient) was also occupied in four major cities of Swabi 34%, Bannu 40%, Peshawar 35% and Faisalabad 37 %. Around 410 ventilators were occupied elsewhere in the country while no one affected by Covid was on ventilator in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan (GB).

Some 46,477 tests were carried out across the country on Tuesday, including 13,237 in Sindh, 18,732 in the Punjab, 9,013 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 3,453 in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 1 159 in Balochistan, 382 Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and 501 in AJK. So far, around 1,181,054 people have recovered from the disease across Pakistan, making it a significant number with a recovery rate of over 90 percent of affected patients.

Since the pandemic broke, a total of 1,253,868 cases have been detected which also included Covid-19 patients who died, recovered and under treatment so far, including AJK 34,278, Balochistan 33,004, GB 10,338, ICT 105 839, KP 175 012, Punjab 434 139 and Sindh 461.258. About 27,986 deaths have been recorded in the country since the outbreak of the contagion. About 7,451 people perished in Sindh, seven of them died in hospitals and two outside hospitals on Tuesday.

12,724 people have died in the Punjab and 14 have emerged in the past 24 hours. 11 of the deceased died in hospitals and three outside hospitals.

No less than 5,608 people died in KP, of which 15 died in hospitals on Tuesday, 930 people died in ICT, one of them died in hospital on Tuesday, 349 people died in Balochistan, 186 infected people perished in Britain and 738 people died in AJK.

A total of 19,685,529 corona tests have been performed so far, while 640 hospitals are equipped with Covid facilities across the country. Some 3,212 corona patients have been admitted to hospitals.
