Mexican Independence Day | South Seattle Emerald

The South Park Multicultural Latino Market, a recurring weekend pop-up organized by the South Park Traders Association (SPMA), will host a special celebration of Mexican Independence Day and Hispanic American Heritage Month on Saturday, September 18 at South Park Plaza. Patrias Festivities will feature DJs doing salsa, cumbia, merengue, banda, and sonidero quebradita music, and vendors will sell authentic Mexican and Latino fare like tacos, empanadas, elotes, soft drinks specialty, as well as clothing, jewelry and collectibles. Mexico’s Independence Day took place on September 16, but other countries in Central and South America celebrate their independence days around the same time, launching Hispanic Heritage Month. -american from September 15 to October 15. Fiestas Patrias is an inclusive celebration of Independence Day for South Park’s diverse Latin American community and everyone is welcome.
