Guiding Light and Young and the Restless star Michael Tylo dies at 73
Michael Tylo, the veteran actor who has appeared in soap operas such as All my children, General hospital, The young and the restless, Love glory and beauty, and Guiding light, died on Tuesday. He was 73 years old.
The cause of death was not disclosed, but Tylo’s death was confirmed in a statement posted on the University of Nevada website, where Tylo was a professor of film.

Tylo’s first soap opera appearance was in 1980 when he was cast Another world. In 1981, he consolidated his status as a soap opera star with one of his most famous roles: the wealthy archaeologist Quinton Chamberlainn in Guiding light, where her character was associated with Lisa Brown’s Nola Reardon. He has also appeared in prime time shows such as Lonely dove, A The man called Hawk, and Zorro, but spent the majority of the 80s in various soap opera roles.
His last appearance in the soap opera was in 2000, when he played attorney Sherman Gale in Love glory and beauty for six episodes.
Tylo joined the University of Nevada in 2003 as a visiting professor of theater and film, later becoming the associate dean of the College of Fine Arts while teaching theater. Wednesday, the Young and restless posted his condolences on Twitter, writing “Our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Michael Tylo who honored #YR with his talents as Blade and Rick.”
Tylo is survived by his wife Rachelle Tylo and their three children Izabella Gabrielle, Katya Ariel and Christopher. He was predeceased by his son Michael Jr., who died in a drowning accident in 2007.
