Georgia reports 872 new coronavirus cases, weekly positivity rate rises to 6.61%
Georgia reported 872 new Covid-19 cases, 913 recoveries and 18 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past seven days is 6.61%.
A total of 28,970 people remain infected with the coronavirus in Georgia.
A total of 18,331 tests have been carried out across the country in the past 24 hours. 15,623 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 2,708 were PCR tests.
1,640,550 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Georgia since February 26, 2020.
A total of 1,594,924 of the 1,640,550 patients have recovered, while 16,630 have died from the virus.
The new Omicron variant of the coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed cases of Covid-19.
The 872 new cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi – 414 cases
- Adjara – 27 cases
- Imereti – 107 cases
- Kvemo Kartli – 33 cases
- Shida Kartli – 42 cases
- Guria – 60 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 84 cases
- Kakheti – 61 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 21 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti – 9 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 14 cases
A total of 920 people are being treated in hospitals so far. Currently, 249 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
28,050 people are receiving treatment at home.
A total of 1,355,347 people have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country to date, while 1,253,112 people have been fully vaccinated, representing 43.5% of the country’s adult population and 231,432 have received booster shots of the vaccine .
