Four more succumb to Covid as positivity hits 4%

ISLAMABAD:

Four people are believed to have succumbed to Covid-19 in one day, as the positivity rate reached 4%, according to data released Saturday by the National Institution of Health (NIH).

According to the NIH’s daily tally, 818 people tested positive out of 18,305 tests conducted over the past day.

At least 126 Covid patients remained in intensive care.

Federal Minister of Health Abdul Qadir Patel said that all possible measures were taken to protect the population from the coronavirus.

In a statement, the minister advised people to follow government guidelines to avoid the virus, including using face masks and maintaining social distancing.

A Department of Health spokesman said guidelines issued by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) for government offices must be followed, including full vaccination, wearing a mask and washing frequent hands.

According to the spokesperson, social distancing must be maintained in offices and social distancing must be ensured during all acts of worship, including prayers. Hand sanitizers should also be present at office entrances and toilets, while handshakes should be avoided.

“Temperature and vaccination should be checked at entrances to all offices and buildings, and people with Covid symptoms should not be allowed to enter offices and buildings,” the spokesperson said.

Additionally, the Ministry of Health official argued that in case of colds, flu, sneezing and breathing difficulties, people should be tested for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or antigen of Covid, vaccination or boosters should be administered, and those who come to buildings and offices should be vaccinated against the virus.
