Fostering Youth Independence Holds Annual Holiday Party
Fostering Youth Independence (FYI) hosted its annual holiday party for 50 local foster children from Santa Clarita supported by the nonprofit organization.
The party included a buffet breakfast, a sleigh-building competition, and goody bags for all the youngsters with donations from the community.
“It was such a special day for all of us,” said Carolyn Olsen, Executive Director and Co-Director of FYI.
Founder. “After the Covid hiatus forced us to miss our last holiday reunion, it was wonderful to be safe together again to celebrate the season with our young people and those who care about them.
Held at the Fellowship Center at Christ Lutheran Church, the theme of the party was “PJs and Breakfast Grinchmas Party,” with all the young people wearing matching pajamas, and many adult supporters in their pajamas as well.
The week following the holiday season, a friend of FYI offered another dollar for dollar match for all donations up to $ 10,000.
“The original goal of FYI’s matching fund had just been achieved, so we were delighted when this new
the opportunity was given to us. This now means that contributions by December 31 will allow donors to have twice the impact for our youth in foster care with their donation, ”said Olsen.
According to Olsen, the majority of donations go directly to critical programs and items that will support young people.
