July is one of my favorite months in Seguin – minus 105 degrees and up – because it’s when our hometown shines brightest with its American pride. It’s a time when the whole community comes together to celebrate America’s independence the Seguin way – complete with Freedom Fiesta, a patriotic concert, spectacular fireworks and, to top it all off, our biggest 4th of July parade in a small town!
This year’s festivities will begin with the opening of the fourth annual Field of Honor at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 2 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1326 E. Cedar. It’s a wonderful addition to our range of events. More than 1,000 American flags are displayed July 2-9 honoring current service members, veterans, fallen, firefighters, police and emergency medical service providers. It is a very touching and impressive sight to see the field lit up after dark. Roxanne Heckmann will perform tap dancing each evening at 7 p.m.
