Delhi’s positivity rate drops to 13% from 16.3%, cases down 19% to 9,197

It took just 10 days for cases to drop below 10,000 in the city

Delhi recorded 9,197 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, 19% lower than yesterday’s tally of 11,486. At 13.3%, the positivity rate (the number of cases detected per 100 tests) fell from 16.3% the day before. The nation’s capital also reported 35 Covid deaths in the past 24 hours.

The number of daily cases in Delhi has declined after hitting a record high of 28,867 on January 13.

It took just 10 days for cases to fall below 10,000. As of Friday, the capital had registered 10,756 cases with a positivity rate of 18.04% and 38 deaths

Delhi on Saturday recorded 45 deaths from COVID-19, the highest since June 5, and 11,486 cases with a positivity rate of 16.36%.

On Friday, Delhi’s Health Minister Satyendar Jain had claimed that the danger of COVID-19 had eased in the nation’s capital and the situation was “completely under control”.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi has declined after registering a record increase a week ago, but the daily trend of deaths in the city should be watched over the next few days to determine if the number of deaths has reached its peak, medical experts had warned on Friday.
