Dak Prescott’s post-loss gesture shows why he’s a leader

The Dallas Cowboys have proven to be a unique team in the playoffs, and it certainly breaks the hearts of Cowboys players and fans. But the painful home loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card didn’t stop Dak Prescott from showing what true leadership is.

Going through WFAA’s Mike Leslie:

Micah Parsons says Dak Prescott came to the team and said “hey, everybody throw away $500” to give practice squad players because they don’t get the same check for playoff games. Parsons says that’s the kind of leader Prescott is.

The Cowboys quarterback could have easily forgotten about the team’s practice players, especially after a loss like that. But he knows how to put things into perspective.

The former Mississippi State Bulldogs finished the game with 254 passing yards and a touchdown with an interception on 23/43 completions. He repeatedly crumbled under the pressure of San Francisco’s pass rush, as he was knocked to the ground in the backfield five times for a loss of 40 yards.

Now, Prescott and the Cowboys face another interesting season after falling short — not even a single playoff win after finishing the regular season as a no. 1 team in the NFC East Division. This might be a totally forgettable season for Dallas, but those practice players will likely always remember this season for what Prescott and his teammates did.
