Shimla, July 9

Even though nearly 150-200 new Covid cases are being recorded daily, the only consolation is that hospitalization is minimal – 11 out of 1,101 active cases.

Although there are concerns about the sharp increase in cases with a positivity rate of more than 8%, the death rate has remained low. The Ministry of Health has kept 25 Covid facilities ready for any eventuality. The number of people recovering from the infection remains high and today 88 people have been cured.

A total of 179 new Covid cases were recorded today. The number of cases to date stands at 2,87,464, in addition to 4,123 deaths.

The highest number of 45 cases was recorded in Chamba, followed by 35 in Kangra, 22 in Shimla, 20 in Mandi, 13 in Solan, 10 in Kinnaur, nine in Una, eight in Kullu, seven in Hamirpur, six in Bilaspur and four in Sirmaur.

The highest number of cases are reported in Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Chamba and Bilaspur. The government has urged people to adhere to Covid standards to prevent transmission. Even though guidelines for wearing masks remain enforced, people rarely wear masks, fueling fears of higher transmission.
