All under one banner: Glasgow independence rally to be held on Saturday

Scottish independence supporters have said it’s time to ‘step up the fight’ following revelations about the party during the lockdown and donor corruption in Downing Street.

The All Under One Banner (AUOB) protest group called for an ’emergency march’ in Glasgow on Saturday to show support for efforts to end the Union.

MP for Aberdeen South Stephen Flynn will speak at the march, which will pass through Scotland’s largest city from George Square to Glasgow Green, starting at 11.15am.

The group called for the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, saying “millions” were “furious” with the government in Westminster.

They called for a show of solidarity from independence supporters and urged as many people as possible to attend.

A statement posted by AUOB on social media read: “It is time to take to the streets to step up the fight for independence which will end Conservative rule in Scotland once and for all.

“The Scottish movement and government must seize this moment to assert our right to come out of this rotten toxic union. See you in Glasgow on Saturday!

“We know the Tories are now desperate to replace Johnson with another toxic politician who will continue the arrogance towards Scotland and our right to decide. So let’s crack! as the power is in our hands, we can leave whenever we want. Scotland can’t wait, set the date!

He adds: “This is an emergency because it is essential to escape this corrupt Westminster system, seize the opportunity and step up the fight for independence. We urge the whole movement to unite and come together in their thousands to show that independence is Scotland’s priority.
